Andres Neyra

Andres Neyra is a first-generation American born to Cuban and Dominican parents from Miami, Florida. Raised in a household shaped by his parents’ experiences and sacrifices, he developed a strong appreciation for public service and civic engagement. He attends the Academy for Advanced Academics at Florida International University, where he serves as Student Government Association Vice President. Beyond school, Andres is a Miami-Dade County Youth Commissioner representing District 6, where he champions youth perspectives in local government.

Andres believes that young people have both the ability and responsibility to combat civic apathy by becoming active leaders in their communities. He applied to CHCI NextGen to grow as a leader, connect with other driven students, and build the skills to advocate for communities whose voices deserve to be heard.
