Mia Cano Amaya

Mia Cano is a rising senior in Massachusetts. She applied to CHCI NextGen to learn more about how the United States government works while also strengthening her leadership skills as a Latina student leader in her community. In the future, she plans to major in political science and pursue a career as an immigration lawyer focused on addressing legal challenges that impact Latino families and immigrant communities.

At school, she founded the Latinos Unidos Club to create a supportive space for Latino students and celebrate Hispanic culture. She is also the captain of the varsity soccer team and participates in mentoring programs. This summer, she secured a fellowship at the Boston Federal Courthouse, where she hopes to gain firsthand experience in the legal field and public service.
