Vanessa Perez

Vanessa Perez is the youngest of three children and a rising Junior at Mayfair High School in Lakewood, California, a suburb outside of Los Angeles. She comes from a family of Mexican immigrants who have worked hard to provide her with new opportunities. She is deeply involved in her community, especially as an eleven-year Girl Scout. She also serves on the LA Metro Youth Council as one of the members representing the Gateway Cities. Vanessa is greatly influenced by her mom and her career in Public Policy.

This is because she has inspired her to speak up on important issues that matter to her. Vanessa is also very involved at her school as School Board Reporter, Girl Up President, Girls Soccer Team manager, and member of the Swim Team. She is excited to explore DC and gain new leadership skills and knowledge, as well as make new connections through CHCI NextGen.
