Xochitl Garcia

Xochitl Garcia-Samayoa, a proud first-generation Mexican-Guatemalan American from Dallas, Texas, is a senior at the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet. Guided by her immigrant parents’ advice, “Si quieres una mejor vida, tienes que estudiar,” she brings her working-class roots and deep reverence for those who came before her into every space. As a QuestBridge Scholar and graphic designer for her school’s publication, The Law Legal Pad, Xochitl blends advocacy with creative storytelling, extending this passion into the Spanish Honor Society by designing comforting cards for children in detention centers.

By bravely practicing self-advocacy as a sophomore, she built an enduring mentorship with a local judge through Mock Trial. Looking ahead, Xochitl aspires to enter the medical field to facilitate healthcare access for underrepresented communities. She applied to CHCI NextGen to collaborate with peer change-makers, gain vital leadership tools, and return home equipped to ignite the limitless potential of local Latino youth.
