Janet Gordillo-Rodelo was born to Antonio Gordillo and Dolores Rodelo in Ontario, Oregon. Both her mom and dad were born and raised in Mexico, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, and Comitan de Dominguez, Chiapas, respectively. Both her parents came to the U.S. in their early 20s and worked in agriculture to help raise money for their families back in Mexico.
Janet is presently enrolled at Boise State University, where she is seeking a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She is a first-generation college student and is setting a pathway for her two younger siblings. Her long-term objective is to work in pediatrics to ensure the health of future generations, as she recognizes that these are the children who will one day help build our country.
Janet is a member of the Organización de Estudiantes Latino-Americanos where she is actively involved in promoting cultural awareness and creating opportunities for Latinx students seeking higher education.
As a CHCI Intern, Janet is interested in gaining the necessary experience to make an impact in her community through this internship. She is interested in learning more about the resources accessible to those who work in agriculture and the policies that govern them. When Janet returns from the internship, she plans to educate her community about the resources that are specifically available to them. She is passionate about supporting people and confident she will accomplish this with the help of The National HEP/CAMP Association Internship.
