Nadia Rojas was born and raised in the valley of California, where she grew up in the small, agricultural town of Corcoran, California. Nadia was born to a single mother who moved from Leon, Guanajuato, to give Nadia and her siblings a greater opportunity in the United States. Her mother became the sole provider of the family by working as an agricultural worker. The struggles her single mother faced as a farmworker and immigrant motivated Nadia to pursue higher education.

Nadia is a first-generation student at California State University, Fresno, where she is determined to earn her degree in Public Health with an emphasis on Community Health. She is a role model in her community and for her younger sibling by being a mentor, volunteering for the American Heart Association, Make-a-Wish Foundation, and other organizations that primarily serve minorities. Nadia is a member of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Fresno State where she receives the utmost support. Although a minority, she does not see this as a barrier to achieving her goals and ambitions. It makes her more passionate and devoted to completing her education and being an effective health educator and leader in her community.

As a CHCI Intern, Nadia hopes to become a strong leader who advocates for all people, especially for underrepresented communities. She hopes to gain a new perspective on national and local issues by also expanding her knowledge on how to achieve and implement the best policies.
