Amaris Benavidez (she/her) is a Professional Staff Member on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor.  In this role, she works on higher education policy and supports Chairman Bobby Scott (D-VA) in his efforts to advocate for access, equity and affordability in higher education.

 Amaris is an alumni of CHCI’s 2021-2022 Graduate Fellowship Program, where she served as the Walton Family Foundation Education Graduate Fellow with the House Education and Labor Committee. She received her B.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University and a M.A. in Higher Education from Boston College. Amaris is a proud first-generation college graduate, and her experiences as a college student motivated her to focus her career on ensuring all students have equitable access to high-quality education, from preschool through college. 

 As a member of the DC Chapter of the Alumni Association, Amaris is excited to build community amongst alumni, promote professional development, and support current CHCI program participants.
