Isaac Carreño was born and raised in Goldsboro, North Carolina, by his parents who immigrated to the United States from Mexico. As a first-generation Mexican American and college student, Isaac recognizes the value in education and the opportunities that it opens for communities like his.
Isaac is a student at North Carolina State University, dual majoring in Political Science and Social Work, with an emphasis on Law and Justice. On campus, Isaac serves as the first Latino Student Body President. He has previously served as the Student Body Vice President, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Student Senator. Outside of Student Government, Isaac is involved in his community and volunteers at the Consulate General of Guatemala in Raleigh. Isaac has demonstrated a commitment to public service through internships at the North Carolina General Assembly, U.S. House of Representatives, and The White House. Upon completing his undergraduate career, he hopes to pursue the legal field and become a public service attorney. He hopes to establish a legal practice that gives back to Latino and other marginalized communities through quality, affordable legal representation.
As a CHCI Intern, Isaac hopes to develop his skills in leadership and strategic advocacy, focusing on best practices and pathways to accomplish meaningful outcomes for vulnerable populations. Isaac is grateful for this incredible opportunity and recognizes that he stands on the shoulders of the generations who came before him, whose sacrifices empowered him to have this opportunity.
