Adrian Reyes-Alzate (he/him) was born and raised in Davie, Florida, with deep family roots spanning across Colombia, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. Growing up in a close-knit family that valued education and community, Adrian witnessed how environmental challenges disproportionately impact vulnerable communities, sparking his passion for climate and spatial justice.
Currently a student at the University of South Florida (USF), Adrian is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Geographic Information Systems, with minors in Political Science and Philosophy. As a Presidential and Florida Bright Futures Academic Scholar, he has distinguished himself through impactful community engagement. Adrian serves as a Regional Organizer for The CLEO Institute, where he has lobbied public officials and contributed to the Hillsborough Climate Action & Equity Plan. He also works at the USF Baker Act Reporting Center, managing sensitive data with precision and care.
Adrian aspires to support public leaders in developing ambitious policies at the intersection of climate adaptation and social equity. His ultimate goal is to work as a policy advisor, helping to craft inclusive legislation that addresses critical challenges like climate change and democratic resilience. He aims to ensure that federal resources align with community-driven solutions and create meaningful societal impact.
Through his experience as a CHCI Intern, Adrian hopes to sharpen his policy analysis skills, and gain the tools to build more resilient and equitable communities.
