Alfredo A. Romero, a U.S. citizen of Mexican descent, embarked on his journey from Mexico to the United States in 2004, driven by a strong commitment to public service and a quest for academic and professional excellence. Born into a family with a rich cultural heritage, Alfredo’s upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for his roots and a passion for contributing to society.

Professionally, Alfredo has carved a niche for himself as an economist and educator. His academic journey includes earning degrees in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Texas Tech University, and the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico. Since 2007, Alfredo has shared his expertise with students as a college professor, nurturing the next generation of economic thinkers. In June 2023, he broadened his impact by joining the Joint Economic Committee as its Senior Economist, where he contributes to shaping the U.S. economic policy through insightful analysis and research. His work reflects a dedication to fostering economic development, cultural understanding, and social mobility.

Through the Latino Hill Staff Academy Program, Alfredo seeks to enhance his leadership and management skills, expand his network, and deepen his understanding of the legislative process. He aspires to leverage this fellowship to further his commitment to diversity and inclusion in public service, aiming to become a more effective leader in the realm of economic policymaking. As a CHCI Post Graduate Fellow, Alfredo hopes to gain valuable insights and experiences that will enable him to contribute more significantly to the advancement of Latino representation and leadership on Capitol Hill, embodying his dedication to improving governance and promoting the values of democracy.
