Ana Avalos Tizol is Maya K’iche’ born and raised in rural Guatemala. Ana is the first in her family to have earned a Bachelor’s in Feminist Studies and Spanish Literature from UC Santa Cruz. Also, she earned a Master’s in International Studies with an emphasis on Reproductive Rights in her indigenous community, from the University of San Francisco. Ana participated in CHCI’s Congressional Internship in the summer of 2012 and interned at the office of Congressman Raul Ruiz (D-CA 25th).
In her current role, Ana leads and supports a community for first-generation Latine young professionals entering the workforce. She works with college students and graduates to develop their skills, expand their networks, explore careers, and provide professional mentorship opportunities. As the Recruitment Coordinator for the Northern California Chapter, Ana hopes to build and deepen the CHCI comunidad in the area.
