2025 NextGen Latino Leadership Program
Brian Ordaz

Hometown: Madera, California
School: Matilda Torres High School
Brian Ordaz is a first-generation Latino student from Madera, California, with a deep commitment to immigration advocacy, scientific discovery, and health equity. A student leader in HOSA, Academic Decathlon, and the Rotary, Brian blends his academic drive with activism, having worked with Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHRILA) to advance immigrant rights and civic engagement. Witnessing his own family’s struggles navigating healthcare and immigration systems, he became determined to pursue medicine as both a doctor and a scientist, aspiring to research neurodegenerative disease and champion policies that uplift underserved, undocumented, and rural communities. Brian applied to CHCI NextGen to strengthen the connection between science and policy. He hopes to return to the Central Valley equipped to lead initiatives that expand healthcare access, advocate for immigrant families, and represent those often left out of national conversations.
