Citlalli Ortiz (she/her) was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, she immigrated to the United States with her parents at two years old and was raised in Long Beach, California. Owing to the support of her family, Citlalli became the first person in her family to graduate college. As a daughter of immigrants and a DACA- recipient, she has been affected by the broken immigration system. Due to this, Citlalli found a passion in advocating for underrepresented communities and has since dedicated her career to finding equitable solutions not only for immigration, but all issues that impact everyday low-income, working class people.
Citlalli graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a minor in Public Relations. She is currently a Legislative Aide in the California State Legislature working for Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel (AD-46) from the San Fernando Valley.
Citlalli was a CHCI Public Policy Fellow in the Office of U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) where she worked alongside the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship and Border Safety.
