U.S. Senator Peter Welch
Evelyn Vivar is a proud daughter of Ecuadorian immigrants, born and raised in Queens, New York. She is currently a Legislative Aide for Senator Peter Welch, focusing on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Commerce issues. Prior to Senator Welch’s office, she served as a CHCI Post-Graduate Fellow for the Office of Congressman Adam Schiff, covering energy and environment issues.
Evelyn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and Latin American Studies from Wellesley College and a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University. Through her education and personal experiences, Evelyn developed a strong interest in food sovereignty, sustainable agriculture, and environmental justice. She is committed to creating a sustainable food system that has the power to mitigate climate change, empower farmers and consumers, and feed communities nutritious, affordable, and culturally appropriate food. Outside of work, Evelyn enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her cat, Toki.
