Gustavo De La Fuente is a J.D. Candidate at the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law and a 1st Lieutenant in the Texas Army National Guard, where he serves as a Legal Support Officer. With a strong foundation in law, public policy, and military leadership, he is committed to advancing justice and public service.
In his previous role, Gustavo managed the logistical and operational readiness of his platoon during Operation Lone Star (OLS), overseeing the administrative, medical, and organizational needs of over 40 soldiers while on state active duty. He executed comprehensive personnel management, training, mentorship, and supply accountability programs, ensuring operational efficiency and soldier readiness.

Before his military service, Gustavo gained extensive experience in public policy and legislative affairs through internships with the Congressional Hunger Center (CHC), the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), and the offices of Congressman Filemon Vela (TX-34) and Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28). He was also selected as a HACU ¡Adelanté! Leader-In-Residence Scholar, a distinction awarded to only 90 students nationwide. His dedication to expanding educational opportunities earned him the Jose Ruano Leadership Award, granted to just three scholars in his cohort.

Graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. from Texas A&M University-San Antonio, Gustavo has cultivated expertise in public policy, office administration, leadership development, and legal advocacy. With a career trajectory aimed at bridging law, military service, and public leadership, he remains dedicated to driving meaningful change and empowering underrepresented communities.
