Heidi Guadalupe Torres (she/her/ella) was born and raised in La Villita, a barrio in Chicago. Thanks to her family support, Heidi became the first in her family to graduate college. With her upbringing, Heidi found a passion in advocating for underrepresented communities in order to find equitable solutions to the most pressing issues.

Heidi is currently taking a gap year before pursuing medical school. She currently serves as a Local Student Council member for her local elementary school where she supports the team towards helping children access their human rights of obtaining an education. Heidi is the Financial Chair at her local Church where she supports community members of diverse backgrounds.

Heidi is an alumna of the Spring 2021 Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Congressional Internship Program, where she had the honor of interning at the office of Congressman Jesus “Chuy” Garcia. She graduated from the University of Michigan (U of M) with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and two minors—Sociology of Health and Medicine and Community Action and Social Change.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing the violin (she is a member in an all-female mariachi band), crocheting, and exploring new cities.
