U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto

Ian M. Haimowitz (él/him/his), born and raised in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico, hails from a richly diverse background—a Nicaraguan immigrant mother and a Jewish-American father. His substantial upbringing within the Taos Pueblo Native American community instilled in him profound values of social responsibility, fostering an innate commitment to aiding those in need and striving for a brighter collective future.

Currently, Ian serves as a legislative aide for Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, steering her tax, labor, and trade portfolio. Ian’s journey into Capitol Hill began as the Amazon Public Policy Fellow at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. His dynamic background spans pivotal roles in Senator Alex Padilla’s office, Senator Ben Ray Luján’s office, the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), and impactful internships, reflecting his commitment to public service.

A graduate in International Affairs and Public Policy from George Washington University, Ian’s fervor for the intersections of equity, good governance, and technology resonates with his trajectory. With an unwavering dedication to public welfare and a vision for inclusive governance, Ian strives to pave a path toward transformative change, envisioning a governance that uplifts every voice and fosters progress.
