Vice President, Civic Engagement

Sandy Orozco is a first-generation Mexican American graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with minors in Political Science and Public Administration, and an accelerated Master of Public Policy and Administration with honors. She has wide-ranging experience working with various stakeholders, including federal and state agencies, nonprofit leaders, and community partners.
As a legislative fellow in the White House, she supported Legislative Affairs for the Biden-Harris Administration in the Office of the Vice President of the United States. Previously, in the U.S. House of Representatives, her portfolio included housing, immigration, veterans affairs, artificial intelligence, environment, and healthcare.
As a former Dunn Fellow in the Governor’s Office of Equity, she contributed to building a statewide strategy for advancing diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible state services, systems, policies, and practices.
Currently, she serves as the Vice President of Civic Engagement for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Alumni Association Chicago Chapter. She contributes to empowering, advocating for, and advancing the Latine community across various industries and sectors.
Sandy is passionate about the intersection of law and public policy and plans to pursue law school. She plans to use her experience from the White House, Congress, and state agencies, boards, and commissions, and from collaborating with all other sectors and partners across Illinois, to advocate for and influence policymaking and change.
