Xitlali was born and raised in Fresno, California. She was raised by her hardworking mother and father who immigrated to the United States forty years ago. As the eldest daughter of proud Mexican immigrants, the value of education, hard work, and community was instilled in her at a very young age. Xitlali is a first-generation graduating senior at the University of the Pacific majoring in Political Science with minors in Economics, Pre-law, and Public Affairs.
After moving to Stockton, California to attend college, Xitlali was determined to become a member of both the Pacific and Stockton communities. During her time at Pacific, she mentored low-income students from local elementary schools and high schools, was a Resident Assistant and served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for the Associated Students of the University of the Pacific. She also participated in the Civic Action Fellowship where she was placed at El Concilio, a non-profit dedicated to helping the Latino community. During her junior year at Pacific, she was awarded the Dochterman Outstanding Junior Scholarship Award for her work in influencing positive change in the Pacific and Stockton communities.
As a CHCI Intern, Xitlali hopes to meet other inspiring Latino leaders and gain a better understanding of the legislative process. Xitlali also hopes that this experience provides her with the skills necessary to pursue a M.P.P. and J.D.
