POLITICAL STRATEGIST AND CNN COMMENTATOR MARIA CARDONA TO EMCEE THE 47th ANNUAL CHCI AWARDS GALA
Former Communications Director for the Democratic National Committee and Principal at Dewey Square Group is regarded as one of the nation’s top 100 most influential Latinos
Washington, D.C. – September 3, 2024 – Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) announced that political strategist and CNN commentator Maria Cardona will serve as emcee during its 47th Annual Awards Gala. The event is an annual celebration to honor the nation’s most remarkable Latino leaders and will be held September 19th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
“Maria Cardona is a trailblazer in America’s political landscape, and we are excited for her to serve as this year’s host and emcee,” said CHCI Chairman, Rep. Adriano Espaillat. “She is an exceptional communicator, strategist, and role model who has spent her decades-long career advocating on behalf of Latino issues while paving the way for future generations of Latinas to think big and bold about their careers.”
Cardona, a native of Colombia who was raised in Puerto Rico, is widely known as a savvy political commentator and is regarded as one of the nation’s top 100 most influential Latinos. A principal who leads Dewey Square Group’s Multicultural and Public Affairs practices, she has also appeared frequently on MSNBC, FOX, Univision and Telemundo prior to signing on exclusively with CNN. Through her work as a political commentator, strategist in presidential campaigns and communications head at the Democratic National Committee, Cardona has elevated Latino issues to national audiences and key stakeholders for decades.
