Associate Manager, Fellowship Programs
Salvador Oregon-Torres
Current Position/Organization
Associate Manager, Fellowship Programs
Salvador is the Associate Manager of Fellowship Programs at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI). In this role, he supports the Fellowship Program Manager by guiding fellows through their personal development, leadership growth, and professional journeys.
Born in Mexico and raised in Utah from the age of one, Salvador brings over 10 years of experience working with young adults from diverse backgrounds. He began his career with local nonprofits in Utah, focusing on organizations that serve the LGBTQ+ and undocumented communities. His primary role was to create safe, empowering spaces for youth and provide leadership skills and support to help them develop and pursue their life goals.
Before joining CHCI, Salvador worked as the Program Coordinator at the University of Utah’s Dream Center, where he assisted undocumented students by offering resources and guidance on accessing higher education, navigating college financing as an undocumented student, and organizing programs tailored to the undocumented experience. He also served as an advisor for scholars in TheDream.us national scholarship program.
Salvador is passionate about the work CHCI does, as he believes representation is crucial. Being part of an organization that paves the way for future Latinx leaders deeply resonates with his values. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, watching movies, listening to music, and catching up on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
