Melessa C. Rodriguez is a San Antonio native and is currently a Marketing Manager at USAA where she manages brand marketing efforts. She is an adept communicator and marketer with more than 10 years of professional experience in developing strategic plans from grassroots to mass market for clients in various industries including city and county governments, electoral and issue-based campaigns, regional school districts, public utilities, insurance and financial services, economic and community revitalization projects, and CPG brands. Her unique perspective is rooted in her time spent organizing communities across the state of Texas for electoral campaigns paired with her years of experience in leading digital and brand marketing efforts.

Melessa is deeply passionate in serving the Latino community and is invested in playing an active role in ensuring her city becomes a destination for innovation. She puts her interests into action as a steering committee member of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Latina Leadership Institute, whose mission is to increase the number and influence of Latinas in leadership positions, is a graduate of Leadership San Antonio – Class 43, and previously served as a board member of the Texas Exes San Antonio Chapter and a mentor for the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio. Melessa is also an alumna of the CHCI Summer 2009 Internship Class where she worked for Congressman Ruben Hinojosa (TX-15).

Melessa earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies with a focus in Political Communication from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook

‘Em Horns!). In her free time, she enjoys eating her way through new cities, running or spinning off her calories, and is a self-proclaimed serial book hopper and podcast lover. A San Antonio native, Melessa and her husband Kevin enjoy traveling and exploring the newest spots around San Antonio with their dachshund mix Bella.
