Valeria Salazar Balli is a United Health Foundation Scholar CHCI Alumni. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Medical Spanish. Valeria then completed her master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in health disparities. Navigating as a first-generation graduate has been challenging. However, Valeria is passionate about creating a path for others to succeed. Valeria served as a board member for Building a Purpose, a San Antonio nonprofit dedicated to encouraging high school students to figure out and pursue their professional goals while connecting them to professionals that can lead and inspire them. Valeria’s devotion to helping the community has led her to work in the nonprofit sector. Currently, Valeria leads the grant department for a Federally Qualified Health Center serving Bexar, Comal, and Guadalupe counties which provides affordable healthcare services for more than 112,000 individuals ranging from medical, dental, and behavioral services. In her free time, Valeria enjoys the art of music, the joy of serving, and spending time in nature with her dog Mona.
