Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff

U.S. Representative Dan Goldman

Kyla Dee Anderson was born and raised in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and is a proud Nuyorican, Puerto Rican from New York. Kyla graduated in May 2022 from SUNY Binghamton University where she studied Philosophy, Politics, and Law with a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Area Studies. Post graduation, Kyla participated in the CHCI Fall Congressional Internship Program and interned for the only Black woman in the New York delegation, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke. Immediately after her internship, Kyla began her first full-time job working for her own congressional district. She serves as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff for Congressman Dan Goldman of New York’s 10th Congressional District.

Kyla’s passion, drive, and determination for social justice are rooted in her upbringing in an urban, low-income environment, as she witnessed firsthand how institutional systems intentionally hold her people and community back. She strives for equity for historically marginalized and underserved communities, who are often excluded from policy discussions affecting their everyday lives.

In her free time, Kyla likes to unwind by watching her guilty pleasure, the Real Housewives, enjoys trying new restaurants and exploring her new neighborhood.
