Hometown: Aurora, Colorado

Major: Political Science
Placement: The Office of Rep. Jason Crow

Amadia Al-Amin is a recent first-generation graduate from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. Born and raised in the Centennial state, she was taught not only the importance of education but how her passion can be a tool to fuel systematic change. Raised by her Mexican mother and Caribbean father, Amadia quickly discovered her passion for social justice and took an interest in the political systems that impact her community.

Early in her college career, Amadia joined the debate team with no prior experience. During her time on the team, she fostered her communication and research skills, eventually earning a debate scholarship. She then interned for a pro-bono law firm that advocated for homeowners’ rights for low-income families during the COVID-19 pandemic. On campus, she was elected Vice President and successfully implemented a university policy that required the hiring of more BIPOC faculty to effectively represent the student body and provide inclusive spaces. Throughout her college career, she also participated in several political conferences, interned for the public defender’s office, and was an active member of affinity groups on campus. With her bachelor’s degree in Politics and minors in Pre-Law and Philosophy, Amadia plans to become an attorney in either criminal or international law.

As a CHCI Intern, Amadia is eager to strengthen her understanding of the legislative process and gain invaluable knowledge working alongside professionals in the political field. She will use this experience to cultivate her future career in law and connect with others that have similar aspirations.
