Angela Palma
Congressional Intern, Presented by Walmart
Hometown: Lynn, Massachusetts
School: Tufts University
Major: Political Science
Placement: Office of Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester
Angela was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts by her parents who immigrated to the United States from El Salvador in 1997. As a first-generation college student, Angela knew her privileges were not the same as others at a very young age. Angela has been involved in her community her whole life. Having a father who is an immigrant rights activist has pushed her to be the person she is today. She went from being a 4-year-old sleeping on the Massachusetts State House steps fighting for DACA recipients to present day, working at a nonprofit organization called Centro Presente that focuses on helping Central American immigrant women.
Angela is a current student at Tufts University majoring in Political Science and minoring in International Relations. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Angela hopes to attend law school to pursue immigration law. Angela’s experiences in her community push her to want to give back and provide the legal help that they need.
By spending time in Washington, DC with CHCI, Angela intends to enhance her knowledge of the legislative process. She hopes to use this experience to make a positive impact in her community and encourage others to do the same.
