Determined to be part of the solution, he immersed himself in programs like the American Society of Civil Engineers Chapter and the Resilient Infrastructure Sustainable Education Undergraduate Program at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus.
At the university, Baldwin is working on his Civil Engineering degree, and aims to specialize in Resilient Infrastructure and Sustainable Design, with a keen interest in project management. Beyond his undergraduate studies, he aspires to pursue a Juris Doctor degree, deepening his understanding of the legal aspects surrounding emergency mitigation and infrastructure resilience. Baldwin’s ultimate career goal is to work as an emergency mitigation engineer in disaster-prone areas, contributing to reconstruction efforts and implementing resilience measures to positively impact communities on a broad scale.
Traveling to Washington, DC for his CHCI internship, Baldwin seeks to gain invaluable insight into public policy procedures and legislative environments, while fostering meaningful relationships and acquiring essential professional skills. His aim is to leverage this experience to effect positive change both locally and globally, inspiring others to pursue their passions and join the collective effort towards a more resilient future.
