Brian Garcia serves as Congressman Juan Vargas’ (CA-52) Communications Director. He specializes in amplifying the Member’s work and priorities through leveraging media relationships and the use of communication tools. Previously he served as Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia’s (TX-29) Press Secretary. As Press Secretary he advised the Member through critical events that directly affected Latinos in the 117th Congress.
Prior to earning a senior staff role on Capitol Hill, he was the Communications Director for Fairfax County Supervisor James Walkinshaw for more than two years. On the county level, he directed a press shop that regularly punched above its weight – landing press hits with The Washington Post, The Hill, and more.
Brian got his start on The Hill as Staff/Press Assistant for Congresswoman Garcia following a successful internship in the 116th Congress. However, he first began his Congressional career in early 2019 by interning for Congressman Gerry Connolly’s (VA-11) District Office. Brian studied at George Mason University.
