Clara was born in Mexico, but grew up in the small town of Casa Grande, Arizona. As a first-generation student, Clara values the opportunities at her institution to grow professionally and sustain a high-quality education. Clara attends Arizona State University as a double major in Political Science and Global Studies, with a minor in Spanish. Sustaining strong ties to her heritage, Clara continues to give back to her Hispanic community by being involved in several on-campus organizations, particularly taking leadership roles for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Association of Latino Professionals For America. The expansion of her network allows Clara to learn from various sectors and develop a well-rounded interpretation of key issues that the Hispanic community faces.  

Upon completing her undergraduate degree, she hopes to complete a master’s degree in International Relations and pursue law. She hopes to harness her skills and passion for underserved communities to contribute to fair legislative practices, increase access to resources, and help interpret laws. One day, she aspires to represent her country abroad, focusing on fostering global relations and strengthening national security.  

Clara is excited to expand her network and learn firsthand about the different legislative processes on the Hill throughout her time with CHCI. She hopes to learn from this opportunity and share her experience with friends and colleagues back home.
