Eva Garcia was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. As a Mexican-American daughter of an immigrant, education, and dedication to her community was ingrained in her from a young age. Inspired and driven by the values instilled in her through her parents and community, Eva has always been interested in minimizing the inequalities that communities of color and women face.
Eva is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She majored in Political Science with minors in Spanish and Chicano Latino Studies. Eva plans to continue to work in public policy to give back to the Latinx communities that raised her.
Applying her passion for advocacy to youth research on race and education, Eva has presented at various national conferences with her research partners; their research will be published later this year. During her internships in federal and state offices, Eva supported her communities through both individual and community advocacy. She is a proud member of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated, having served as chapter president of this organization committed to empowering women. Eva’s experiences have allowed her to build a strong sense of community and solidify her dedication to activism.
As a CHCI Intern, Eva hopes to increase her knowledge of the legislative process and continue to serve constituents. She wants to gain the knowledge needed to more deeply impact the lives of the members of the communities of which she is honored to be a part.
