Congressional Intern, Presented by Walmart

Hometown: Flemington, New Jersey

School: American University

Major: Journalism

Placement: U.S. House Democratic Caucus

Fabianna is the daughter of a long line of Venezuelan journalists. Her parents & grandparents each participated in the craft and passed their love of communication on to her, along with their passion for their home country’s culture. Born in a small town in New Jersey, Fabianna is the first in her family to combine this love of communication with politics – a combination that has been so integral to her experience as a first-generation American. Her family background and first-hand perspective to the immigrant experience combined and sparked her interest in political communication, making it an essential part of her studies and career aspirations.

Fabianna is a student at American University (AU) studying Journalism and Political Science. She cannot wait to share her love for DC’s culture with her fellow interns. At AU, she works at the School of Communication’s Dean’s Office and is a part of the communication’s team for The American Forum, where she explores the intersection of politics, media & democracy. Fabianna is a proud alumnus of The LAGRANT Foundation Scholarship for Public Communications and is a scholarship & student project participant with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).

Through CHCI, Fabianna hopes to learn as much as she can about political communication on Capitol Hill. She is ready and excited to connect with constituents across multimedia platforms, network with leaders in the field, and become a part of the CHCI familia
