Lara Victoria Espada Pedrogo was born and raised in Coamo, Puerto Rico. Raised by her mother, Lara has learned the importance of overcoming every obstacle presented, recognizing them as opportunities for personal growth and resilience. She is not only passionate about human rights and gender equality, but is committed to actively contributing to their advancement.
Lara majored in Political Science while at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Lara hopes to obtain a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, showcasing her ambition to delve into the realm of law and make a substantial impact in the legal field. Her ultimate career goal would be to serve in the Department of Justice and, in the long run, aspire for a legislative role in the Senate or the House of Representatives in Puerto Rico.
Lara is determined to fortify her understanding of the legislative process while in Washington, DC with CHCI, as well as gain insight and a better understanding of the relation of Puerto Rico and the United States government. With no doubt in her mind, Lara envisions this internship as a pivotal opportunity to enhance her skills, broaden her horizons, forge meaningful connections, contribute to her professional development, and provide a platform for personal enrichment.
