Gloria was born in Seattle, Washington to parents of Garifuna descent, and raised in various locations around the world, as her family moved frequently due to her father’s military assignments. As the first in her family to attend college, Gloria understands the importance of adaptability, resilience, and generosity when giving back to others.
Gloria is majoring in Criminal Justice, and on the pre-law track, at Hampton University. On campus, she has worked to create her own club called the Afro-Latinx Collective, as she strives to create an inclusive environment for Afro-Latinos at her HBCU. Gloria has always put a lot of effort into reaching her objectives in an effort to make her family and community proud.
Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Gloria hopes to obtain a master’s degree in social justice and human rights. Her ultimate career goal would be to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to raise awareness about public corruption and the importance of public trust in society.
Gloria hopes to strengthen her knowledge of the legislative process with CHCI, gain insight on U.S. international relations, and improve her communication skills. She hopes to be able to use this experience to make a difference in her community and inspire others to do the same.
