U.S. Senator Ben Cardin
Michelle Galdamez is the Legislative Assistant handling health and leading labor issues for Senator Ben Cardin (D-Maryland). She serves as the principal policy assistant for the Senior Health Policy Advisor and Staff Director of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Health on all health-related issues including drug shortages, Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans’ health. Her portfolio of issues also includes federal employee benefits, unions, and census.
She previously served as the 2022-2023 CHCI-CVS Graduate Health Fellow in Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s office (IL-02), a role in which she engaged in a dynamic health portfolio that included Energy & Commerce Committee activities, maternal health, clinical trial diversity and health equity.
Prior to joining the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), while attending graduate school in Texas, Michelle served as a Legislative Intern for Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) on the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee in 2021 and also completed a congressional internship in Congresswoman Veronica Escobar’s office in 2020.
