Congressional Intern, Presented by Walmart

Hometown: San Antonio, Texas

School: Trinity University

Major: International Studies

Placement: Office of Rep. Marc Veasey

Alynn was raised in Tamaulipas, Mexico, where she lived until she moved to the United States at the age of 17. Leaving behind her family and friends to pursue better opportunities, she faced many challenges, including limited English, but was determined to attend college, despite numerous rejections due to the language barrier. As a first-generation student, Alynn understands the importance of encouraging her community to pursue higher education and give back to others.

As a current student at Trinity University, Alynn is pursuing a double major in International Studies and Political Science. On campus, she is actively involved in various organizations, such as the Latino Association and the Powerlifting Team.

Growing up in Mexico inspired Alynn’s passion for women’s rights activism. During her year abroad in Poland with the U.S. Department, she founded a non-profit, Revolución Violeta MX, which has impacted over 1 million people through social media by raising awareness about the feminist fight in Mexico. Her advocacy work reached the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, where she presented her projects and activism to other representatives. Additionally, UNESCO awarded her second place worldwide for her impactful contributions to women’s rights.

Alynn is eager to further explore her passion for advocacy by learning the legislative process and collaborating with young leaders during her time as a CHCI Intern. She hopes this experience will pave the way for a career representing Latinos in the White House.
