NextGen Latino Leadership Program 2023
Nyelli Ceja
Hometown: Salinas, California
School: Monte Vista Christian School
Nyelli Ceja is from Salinas California and the proud granddaughter of immigrants from Guanajuato Mexico. Nyelli is passionate about health equity, women’s reproductive rights, and supporting immigrants. As the Founder of the club Girls for Health and Human Rights, she actively advocates for issues that affect women and girls. With the help of the girls in her club, Nyelli is currently organizing Salud Y Justicia, a health and rights fair in partnership with the Mexican Consulate. Through resources, health screenings, legal consultations, and workshops centered around women’s empowerment, Nyelli hopes to educate immigrant women on their health and rights so they can be better equipped to advocate for themselves and others too. Her favorite part of the NextGen Program was meeting other Latino youth from around the world who shared the same passions as her.
