Rebeca was born and raised in Hermosillo, Mexico, for the first seven years of her childhood before moving to Phoenix, Arizona with the rest of her family. As a Stamps Scholarship recipient, she is passionate about giving back to her campus through a variety of different service organizations and volunteer roles.
Rebeca is a student at the University of Arizona, majoring in Physiology and Medical Sciences and Public Health, with minors in Health and Human Values and Spanish. Aside from her coursework, she also works tirelessly as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician and Personnel Officer for UArizona’s agency, a research assistant at the College of Public Health, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion chair for SOPHOS Sophomore Honorary. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Rebeca hopes to attend medical school to continue her journey towards being a pediatrician. Her ultimate career goal is to work as a physician, while taking part in health policy and other public health initiatives.
Rebeca hopes to strengthen her knowledge about policy through the CHCI internship, and continue learning about the legislative process in the health sector. She hopes to use this experience to make a difference in her community and continue growing as a future healthcare professional involved in politics.
