Roberto Carmona immigrated from Cuba two years ago, leaving behind a path of academic excellence and starting from scratch in a foreign land and language. As a recently-immigrated student, he became captain of the Academic Worldquest and led the first team to ever represent South Florida at the National Competition for two consecutive years. He is also involved with Model United Nations and currently serves as the President of the Science National Honors Society at his school. Roberto found his passion in the intricate world of international relations and the the individual value of global knowledge in an exponentially globalized society. As a proud alumn of the CHCI NextGen Latino Program, Roberto understands the tremendous potential that young latinos have in representing the future of our community. Through the knowledge and skills attained at the program, he aims to create a community where immigrant students as Roberto, become self-aware of their unexplored potential by understanding the importance of the Latino community.
