Ximena Solorzano is a daughter of Salvadoran immigrants from Downey, California. Within school, she’s the editor-in-chief of the Downey Legend, president of the DHS Eco Club, Vice President of DHS KIWIN’S, and is active with organizations such as SkillsUSA and the DHS Writing Center. She is also a member of the DUSD Superintendent Advisory Committee while also serving as a commissioner under the Downey Youth Commission. The Salvadoran American is passionate about international relations and foreign policy, especially concerning immigrant rights and climate change. Due to NextGen Latino Leadership Program, she has been able to become a more proactive member within her community, connecting like-minded youth with a vast network of resources and contacts in hopes of helping fellow students of color achieve their dreams.
