Director, Development and Corporate Relations
Dr. April Avilés is the Director of Development and Corporate Relations at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI). In this role, she leads a team of fundraisers working to expand the organization’s national fundraising strategy and manages relationships with corporate partners to further CHCI’s mission and programs.
Over her 15+ years of experience in public health, Dr. Avilés has been instrumental in leading and supporting programmatic and fundraising efforts for various non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and government agencies. April identifies as a North Carolina-grown, Puerto Rican and Peruvian Latina. She is a proud first-generation college graduate who earned her BS from Cornell University, MPH from UNC Chapel Hill and EdD from Columbia University, Teachers College. She currently resides in the Washington, D.C.-metro area with her three pups, Muenster, Manchego, and Burrata.
