JOSÉ MERCADO

José R. Mercado is a seasoned government relations professional with over a decade of experience in public policy advocacy at the federal level. As DoorDash’s Head of Congressional Affairs, he leads the company’s engagement with federal lawmakers and congressionally-affiliated third-party organizations. Before joining DoorDash, Mr. Mercado was a contract lobbyist representing various clients, including DoorDash, on Capitol Hill. He is a CHCI alumnus, serving as a Public Policy Fellow for a member of the U.S. Senate, and he credits this life-changing experience to the rewarding career he has today. In his free time, he serves on the Executive Committee of the Hispanic Lobbyists Association, which is dedicated to advancing and empowering Hispanic/Latino government relations and public affairs professionals by fostering mentorship and professional development opportunities. Mr. Mercado resides in Alexandria, VA, with his wife, Daiquiri, his son, Gael, and dogs, Lupita and Lucy.
