Mr. Canty is a Senior Director at EEI’s. EEI is the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Their members provide electricity for 220 million Americans, operate in all 50 states and D.C. They employ more than 500,000 workers. Mr. Canty works on EEI outreach and education and lobbying efforts to members of congress, national policy organizations, community-based organizations, and other key industry stakeholders. His background and experience working with a broad constituency base will be a great value-add in explaining how the men and women of the utility industry work each day to power America. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Canty understands the value of being a dedicated public servant. Prior to joining EEI Mr. Canty was Director of Programming for the Congressional Black Caucus under Chairs Marcia L Fudge and G.K. Butterfield. In his role, Mr. Canty was responsible for CBC Member Services, management of CBC Taskforces and provided logistical support for all programing. Mr. Canty was also responsible for the CBC’s coalition building efforts with external organizations. Mr. Canty also worked for former Congressman Edolphus Towns as a Senior Legislative Assistant and was the lead staffer on all hearings related to the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer, Manufacturing and Trade. Mr. Canty is a graduate of Hampton University and is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
