Melissa Alvarado is a Director of Government Affairs at Delta Air Lines. Melissa shapes aviation policy working with Democratic Senate and House leaders. She advocates for Delta’s safety, security, and passenger facilitation priorities with Congress, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Throughout her career, she has been an industry leader moving innovation forward in partnership with our government partners including One Stop Security, Digital ID, and CT deployments as well as supporting the U.S. Government’s CRAF activation, Operation Fly Formula, and the changing cybersecurity and artificial intelligence environment for the aviation industry.
She joined Delta from the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security where she was a professional staff member responsible for aviation, maritime, and transportation security. Before joining the Committee on Homeland Security, she worked for the TSA’s Office of Legislative Affairs and as a Detail to the DHS. Prior to her time in the executive branch, Melissa served in the U.S. Senate on the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and in the personal office of U.S. Senator Bill Nelson of Florida.
