Jasmin Lopez was raised in Atlanta, Georgia by parents who migrated from to America from El Salvador in the 80s. She is a first-generation Latinx attending Georgia Tech en route to graduate with a Chemical Engineering degree. Due to the current impending climate crisis, she spends the majority of her time on campus serving on a sustainability advisory board where she works as the convener and is also involved in a hydroponics group as a co-chair. Before these roles, she was involved in hydroponics research and also led a research group that was working on the development of a smart compositing bin. This experience helped her to excel in her first internship where she worked for a local non-profit to develop an employee manual that would be used as a learning tool during their onboarding process. She has a strong passion for the development of income and green equity for all and plans to use her chemical engineering degree in the urban agriculture industry.
As a CHCI intern, Jasmin plans to gain more first-hand experience on how effective leaders delegate and push for change.
