Jose was born in Jalisco, México, and raised in Carson City, Nevada. When he was five years old, his parents decided to migrate to the United States alongside his other siblings. By being a first-generation college student, Jose strives to achieve the “American Dream” – a goal of his and a dream of his parents.
Jose is currently a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno, pursuing a degree in Accounting. While being an undergraduate student, Jose has immersed his college career in giving back through community service and advocating for his Latino community throughout the college campus and the greater Carson City/Reno community. Climate change, now more than ever, has been a growing concern for much of the population. With that being said, Jose hopes to pursue a career in environmental accounting. A career in environmental accounting will allow Jose to not only help his community but those around the world.
As a CHCI intern, Jose hopes to gain a greater understanding of issues, including energy, environment, and agriculture. He plans on utilizing this knowledge within his career field.
