Alexius was born in Morales, Guatemala but was raised in the small country town of Port Sulphur, Louisiana. She was adopted by a mother and father that loves her dearly. Being from a small town, Alexius grew up with a sense of community. She volunteered at River Bend Nursing Home and taught VBS/Sunday School during the summer. While a student at the University of New Orleans (UNO), she joined a Greek Fraternity, Zeta Tau Alpha, whose philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. She is also a member of the UNO Ambassadors, who are the liaisons between the student body and the University President and faculty. Alexius also knows that education and hard work are essential to success.
In May 2023, Alexius will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Professional Writing. Her plans after graduation and completing the CHCI internship, is to attend law school. There, she would like to pursue a career in civil rights law and legislation. She intends to serve her community by ensuring that human rights are respected, protected, and not simply ignored.
As a CHCI Intern, Alexius would like to further her knowledge and understanding of legislation, especially regarding the role of government in the civil rights entitlements of all people. With the experience and insights, she is sure to achieve through this internship, Alexius believes that she will be better capable of helping the community by providing knowledge, guidance, and awareness concerning the civil rights that are all entitled.
