Anna C. Bedolla-Gutierrez
Hometown: Porterville, California
School: California State University, Fresno
Major: Human Nutritional Sciences
Placement: Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute
Anna was born and raised in the Central Valley, in the small town of Porterville, California. She is the second eldest daughter of immigrant parents, who migrated from Mexico to the United States in search of abundant opportunities for their future family. Aware of the hardships her parents experienced, it was natural for Anna to give back not only to her parents but to her community as well. As encouraged by her parents, education and community involvement is of importance to Anna. In addition to academics, she has dedicated her time volunteering with Zonta through Z-Club at women’s shelters and domestic violence awareness events supporting victims in Porterville.
Anna is a first-generation college student attending California State University, Fresno majoring in Human Nutritional Sciences with an emphasis in dietetics. Her career goal is to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist certified in diabetes care and education. Her reason for majoring in nutrition is fueled by the determination of helping others build a healthy relationship with food and rehabilitating a patient in the area of nutrition. Anna is a student of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Fresno State. She is currently interning for the College Assistance Migrant Program as a project intern.
As a CHCI Intern, Anna hopes to be able to learn and experience how she can get involved locally with minorities by helping provide and improve useful resources for everyone. She seeks to be able to gain knowledge she is able to bring back to her community.
