Andres was born in Los Angeles, residing in Huntington Park as a child, and eventually settled in Downey, California. Raised by parents of Mexican and Salvadorian origin, instilling in him values the values of hard work, humility, kindness, and integrity. It was these values which helped propel Andres to becoming a first-generation college student. He worked all throughout his college experience, and on multiple occasions even having two jobs. In his senior year Andres acquired an internship for the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Here he gained workplace experience, putting to practice the knowledge acquired in the classroom.
Andres is currently a student at the University of California, Irvine majoring in political science. Upon completing his degree, Andres hopes to continue his work in local government. His ultimate career goal is to work for an elected official, as a policy advisor.
As a CHCI Intern, Andres hopes to further build upon the skills he has acquired academically and professionally. He hopes to fully immerse himself in the experience, learning everything he can, to become a valuable proponent for positive change in his community for years to come.
