Aretzy Amaya

Aretzy Amaya is a first generation Indigenous Mexican from Los Angeles, California. Her family is original to the pueblos of Amatlán de Jora and Ixtlan del Rio. She is currently a student in the only Indigenous school in LA county where they integrate Indigenous knowledge and western teaching into the classrooms. She values her education and strives to grow as an Indigenous person, student, and leader by participating in programs and clubs that encourage her to take action and increase her knowledge to make positive community change. Aretzy is passionate about learning law and policy in hopes to protect and advocate for her Indigenous and underrepresented communities. She hopes to pursue a profession in STEM while also continuing to support and be the voice for her people.
