Jessy Alonso Garcia is a child of immigrant parents from Mexico who was born and raised in Oregon. Throughout his life, he created and implemented change, leadership, and advocacy from a local youth level to a statewide impact. He is involved in his Varsity swimming team, JV Cross Country, and Track team, but also community-based activities, such as Key Club, MEChA, HOSA, Hillsboro’s YAC, and the 4H Outreach Program that resolves into community involvement. Through CHCI NextGen, he created long-lasting relationships with his new “familia”, met strong representatives, grew his understanding of advocacy, and felt belonged in a political environment.
